Nestled on the eastern slopes of Mt Ruapehu in New Zealand’s North Island, the Tukino Skifield offers the rare combination of adventure and lack of crowds
Tukino is a family friendly ski field with heaps of activities for everyone, with the friendliness and camaraderie that’s only found on club-operated fields.
Tukino has 170 hectares of ski area, over 300m of vertical drop, and great conditions sheltered from the prevailing Westerly winds.

The Tukino Skifield is open to the public, with season & day passes available. Cat skiing takes your day to the next level, and ski lessons are available for all ages and abilities.

Getting There
Tukino is accessible by 4WD vehicle, or call ahead and our mountain transfer shuttle will meet you at the 2WD car park, off the Desert Road.

The Tukino Skifield is open to the public and visitors are most welcome to visit Tukino to ski, board or just play around in the snow. Come for the day, or stay on the mountain, in unique lodge accomodation.

Everyone is WELCOME to come and Ski / Snowboard and Stay at Tukino.
Just make a Non-Member Booking at any one of the three lodges listed below.
We welcome first time and returning visitors to stay in one of the Lodges at Tukino.
Comfortable on-mountain accommodation is provided in three modern ski lodges in the Tukino Mountain Village immediately adjacent to the skifield - you can ski right to your door!
The Aorangi, Desert Alpine and Tukino Alpine Sports Club lodges have a friendly, warm atmosphere and full facilities.
When you stay in any of the lodges, you are welcomed as part of the club.
Each of the clubs provide bunk room style accommodation where all of the guests share the duties of cooking (food provided) and cleaning under the supervision of a resident Lodge Officer.
